Catalonia surpasses one million skiers in a season boosted by abundant snow.

The resorts managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya have exceeded one million visitors in a single season for the first time. In total, 1,018,801 skiers have visited La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Boí Taüll, Espot and Port Ainé during the 2025-2026 winter.

The season spanned 124 days, from Puente de la Purísima to Easter, with La Molina leading in attendance with over 400,000 visitors.

Snow was the decisive factor.

Accumulated snow depths reached remarkable figures over the last decade, with 673 cm in Vallter and 578 cm in Boí Taüll. This volume had a direct effect on demand, increasing both attendance and the use of complementary services within the resorts.

Beyond the specific data, the impact is structural. According to its president, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya represents up to 11% of the GDP in the regions where it operates, consolidating skiing as a key economic driver in the Catalan Pyrenees.

A diversification of the user profile is also observed.

The Flexipass system registered over 3,300 users, accumulating nearly 14,000 ski days, while the Esport Blanc school program mobilized 157,500 students. In addition, there was growth in the children's public, with over 112,000 ski passes sold.

Competitive activity was another relevant focus. Under the umbrella of Pirineu365, 53 days of competitions were held with over 5,500 participants in disciplines such as alpine skiing, snowboarding, and cycling.

In parallel, Baqueira Beret once again confirmed its consistency within the Spanish market, exceeding 1,050,000 visitors. This is the fourth time in five years that it has reached this figure, in a 129-day season also marked by heavy snowfall, with accumulations of up to 944 cm at high altitudes.

The overall balance paints a clear picture: snow was the catalyst, but growth responds to an increasingly solid structure, with resorts capable of absorbing volume, diversifying their offerings, and extending their activity beyond winter.

The next step is already underway.

The resorts are working on the summer campaign with a concrete objective: to reduce seasonal dependence and consolidate the Pyrenees as an active year-round destination.
