Geartrade Unveils New Recycled Bag Collection

Stio, the renowned mountain apparel brand, has partnered with BirdieBlue, a women-led recycling brand, and Geartrade, a leader in outdoor gear resale, to give new life to used, damaged, or retired garments. This collaboration gives rise to a new capsule collection of limited-edition bags that transform technical materials into cheerful, durable, mountain-inspired accessories.

A second chance for technical fabrics

The collection includes three versatile pieces with distinct personalities: the Carry All ($109), the Traveler Bag ($59), and the Hip Pack ($59). Each bag has been handcrafted in Vermont by BirdieBlue, sewn with recovered fabrics from Stio items, with Geartrade as a strategic partner in managing end-of-life garments.

Purpose-driven circularity

"We are creating new value from discarded old items and using these unique products to build new connections with young, active, and budget-conscious consumers," explained Aaron Provine, President of Geartrade.

The spark for this collaboration emerged at the SIA Eastern Summit in Vermont, during a panel on circularity. BirdieBlue and Geartrade met there; one had the artisanal and creative skill, the other, access to disused materials. The union with Stio closed the circle, bringing the essence of a brand born and raised in the mountains.

These unique bags will be available exclusively at selected Stio Mountain Studio® stores in the United States, with limited units reinforcing their exclusive character.
