Hermès Just Launched the World's Most Expensive Skis

The Hermès clothing brand innovates this season by releasing its first ski model, valued at 14,600 euros.

Hermès, in addition to its numerous ready-to-wear collections, has always included garments for stylish movement on snow. However, this season it has decided to take a risk and launch its first skis, manufactured in France, named “Off Piste”. These stand out not only for their design but also for their price: 14,600 euros.

From a technical perspective, they measure 172 centimeters (the only length available) and are designed for skiers approximately 165 cm or taller, of any downhill skill level. Their dimensions are 132 mm at the tip, 74 mm underfoot, and 109 mm at the tail (132-74-109), with a turning radius of 13.75 meters.

These skis are delivered with a cover and presented in the brand's iconic orange box, closed with the Hermès Bolduc ribbon. Despite their high price, the French firm includes complimentary ground shipping, while offering express delivery options or hand-delivery service for an additional cost.

Although the brand has not directly revealed the manufacturer, it has indicated that their core is mainly constructed from ash wood sourced from the Vercors massif, French territory, a material valued for its durability and grip capacity on various snow surfaces. According to the product description, their structure resembles that of a racing ski, offering stability at high speeds and control in wide turns.

These details point to the artisan workshop La Fabrique du Ski, located in the small town of Villard-de-Lans, at the foot of the Alps and not far from Grenoble. Although they produce some of their own models, they also work for third parties, stamping any requested logo.

Hermès joins the high-end ski market, but it is not the only luxury brand seeking to capture the attention of elite skiers. Until a few years ago, it was common for several fashion brands to launch exclusive and extremely expensive ski models, aimed more at marketing or collecting than at actual sales. In fact, most of these examples were rarely seen on the slopes.

In any case, if you are willing to invest a fortune in skis to be the exclusivity of the day, this proposal from Hermès stands out as the first prominent option of the season.
