Lange Launches Boots with Built-in RECCO Reflector

Lange, one of the most prestigious and recognized brands in ski boots, launches the Lange Code 140, a model that represents a significant shift in its positioning within high-performance freeride. For the first time, the brand includes a RECCO reflector as standard, an internationally recognized technology in search and rescue operations, integrated directly into one of its boots.

With a flex of 140, the Code 140 positions itself within the most radical and technical segment of the market. This boot is specifically designed for advanced and expert freeriders, as well as for guides, instructors, and highly technically demanding skiers who require instant response, firm support, and maximum control when terrain conditions become particularly challenging.

The CODE philosophy stems from an unequivocal principle: every detail matters. As in a perfectly debugged line of code, in the Code 140 everything is adjusted so that the skier can concentrate exclusively on the line, the rhythm, and the sensations. The result is an extremely precise, powerful, and consistent boot, capable of responding accurately to each technical movement and of transferring energy to the ski directly and efficiently.

The main advance of the Lange Code 140 lies in the incorporation of the RECCO reflector, making it the first ski boot from the French brand to integrate this safety technology. It is a passive, lightweight, and battery-free system, designed to facilitate the location of skiers using specific detectors in avalanche rescue or disappearance operations in alpine terrain.

The decision to integrate the reflector directly into the boot is particularly significant. Unlike other garments or accessories, the boot is an item that the skier never takes off, which considerably reduces the risk of separation in case of an accident. All of this has been achieved without penalizing weight, comfort, or design, a key balance for Lange in taking this step, and in collaboration with technology developed by RECCO.

Thanks to the presence of these reflectors, it is possible to carry out search operations both on the ground and from the air. The RECCO SAR system integrated into helicopters allows for exploring large areas in a very short time, with the capacity to cover up to one square kilometer in just six minutes. This speed makes it an especially effective tool for locating missing persons in off-piste terrain, even in situations not directly related to avalanches.

The Lange Code 140 with RECCO will arrive on the market, both in physical stores and online channels, starting in autumn 2026, establishing itself as one of the most advanced and complete freeride boots in the industry. This model merges Lange's competitive tradition with a contemporary concept of off-piste skiing, where improving performance goes hand in hand with greater safety awareness.
