The Australian Backcountry Festival returns to Mount Hotham from August 29-31 for its eighth edition, with a program that grows in quality, content, and audience each year.
The event, formerly known as the Victorian Backcountry Festival, offers general admission, guided tours, and workshops. University students can enjoy a 25% discount using their academic email, a clear gesture of support for the next generation of mountaineers.
A Festival for Learning and Discovery
The festival offers a comprehensive approach to experiencing the mountains in winter. From the fundamentals of ski touring and splitboarding to sessions on avalanche safety, shelter building, and backcountry navigation, the workshops aim for every attendee to leave with more resources, awareness, and autonomy.
