Peak Performance: 17 Years Perfecting the Mountain

Developed with ski guides and mountain rescue teams, the new Alpine GORE-TEX 3L brings together 17 years of evolution in a piece designed for precise movement through the most demanding terrain.

For 17 years, Peak Performance has worked alongside ski guides and mountain rescue teams to refine one of its most technical offerings. The result is the new Alpine GORE-TEX 3L, a jacket and pant designed for those who venture beyond the groomed slopes and need every element of their equipment to perform when conditions become unpredictable.

It's not just about protecting oneself from cold, snow, or wind. It's about being able to change pace, traverse diverse terrains, and adapt one's gear throughout the day without anything hindering movement.

A Question of Precision

In the mountains, conditions rarely remain constant. An ascent demands effort; a technical descent requires freedom of movement; a storm can transform a perfect day into a far more demanding environment in minutes.

The Alpine 3L has been designed precisely around this capacity for adaptation.

The jacket incorporates zippered ventilation openings in the armpits, while the pants feature full-length ventilation zippers. The objective is simple: quickly regulate temperature when intensity increases, without sacrificing protection from the elements.

The construction also allows for the integration of mid-layers, a backpack, and back protection, maintaining the overall functionality as the equipment configuration changes.

Freedom to Move

Mobility is one of the distinguishing elements of this new generation.

On the upper back of the jacket, a GORE-TEX Stretch panel provides greater articulation, particularly relevant during technical ascents and descents. The three-layer construction with GORE-TEX C-Knit™ technology combines waterproofing and wind protection with high breathability, while its interior provides a softer, more comfortable feel.

The jacket achieves a waterproof rating of 28,000 mm, while the ensemble utilizes GORE-TEX ePE membrane technology, manufactured without intentionally added PFAS.

These are figures and technologies that speak to performance, but also to a broader evolution: that of technical equipment that no longer needs to choose between functionality and comfort.

When Every Detail Has a Purpose

Some of the most interesting elements of the Alpine 3L are precisely those that stem from real-world mountain experience.

The jacket retains the characteristic radio pocket, a feature historically associated with the work of mountain guides and designed to facilitate communications during alpine operations.

In the pants, a RECCO® reflector is integrated to aid location in emergency situations. Cordura® reinforcements protect the most exposed areas of the lower legs, while YKK AquaGuard® zippers, anti-slip gaiters, and integration with the powder skirt complete a construction thoughtfully designed down to the last detail.

A New Understanding of Alpine Equipment

There's also a matter of materials. The Alpine 3L incorporates recycled polyamide components and a construction designed to extend the garment's lifespan, maintaining a focus on durability and responsible resource use.

This evolution aligns with how we now perceive luxury in the mountains: less about ostentation and more about the quality of what we choose to wear, use, and preserve.

After 17 years of development, Peak Performance isn't simply presenting another technical layer.

It presents a more refined interpretation of what it means to be prepared for the mountains: protection when needed, freedom when desired, and technology that works without demanding the spotlight.

Because in alpine terrain, true sophistication lies in everything functioning exactly as it should.
