Dominance and emotion in Snowboard Cross In Snowboard Cross, the competition was marked by the emergence of new talents and the consolidation of experienced athletes. In the women's category, the spotlight fell on the young Celia Ortega (FADI Andalucía-Nevada Sport Club), who, despite being new to the Absolute category, showed impressive superiority. Ortega secured the national title with an overwhelming victory, demonstrating exceptional technique and confidence. Following her, Marta Orrit (FCEH-ECEM) and María Matilde Pérez (FADI Andalucía-Nevada Sport Club) completed the podium, adding an exciting touch to the competition. Sierra Nevada crowns new national champions in the most attended and highest-level edition in history.
The Sierra Nevada resort concluded the Spanish Snowboard and Freeski Championships this weekend, April 4th and 5th, solidifying the growth of these disciplines with a record number of participants. Around 300 athletes gathered at the Granada Snowpark to compete in the Slopestyle and Rail Event finals, confirming the excellent health and rising popularity of freestyle in Spain.
Thibault Magnin, men's Slopestyle champion
Sunday's main attraction was the Freeski Slopestyle final, where national team members delivered a world-class spectacle. Thibault Magnin triumphed over his teammate Javi Lliso, claiming the Spanish championship title with a score of 87.66. Lliso, with 82 points, secured silver, while Max Frías completed the podium with bronze.
In the women's category, Lucía Pacheco from Madrid seized victory with a score of 55, surpassing Irene Conde (42.33) and Paula Fernández (40) in a final that showcased the qualitative leap taken by national female riders.
Nora Cornell and Unai López lead in Snowboard
In the Snowboard Slopestyle category, Olympian Nora Cornell lived up to her favorite status. With an impeccable run of 94.33 points, Cornell dominated the competition from start to finish, also achieving a double win after triumphing in the Rail Event exhibition.
Meanwhile, RFEDI's young talent, Unai López, was crowned men's Spanish champion in one of the tightest finals remembered. His 85.66 points allowed him to narrowly beat Martín López (85.00) and Aritz López (83.33), completing a high-voltage podium.
A historic season close
Thanks to stable weather and excellent organizational efforts, the Sierra Nevada event allowed athletes to perform at their highest level without setbacks. This championship stands out not only for the caliber of its established figures but also for recording the highest turnout of competitors to date in these disciplines, bringing an historic season for Spanish snowboard and freeski to a close.
