Sun Peaks Prepares for Winter with Innovative Adventures and Unrivaled Snow

Some resorts don't wait for winter to arrive: they create it. Sun Peaks Resort, Canada's second-largest ski resort, is poised to redefine the perfect winter getaway with the arrival of the 2025/26 season. Its opening is scheduled for November 22nd, and new developments promise a season as stable as it is exciting.

Innovation in service of winter

One of the most impactful announcements is the incorporation of pioneering technology in Canada: summer snow storage with Finnish engineering. In collaboration with Snow Secure, Sun Peaks has managed to conserve 14,000 cubic meters of natural snow under 18 intelligent thermal blankets. The result? Skiable slopes from the very first minute of the season, less pressure on snowmaking systems, and an estimated saving of 5 million liters of water.

Furthermore, a multi-million dollar improvement to the snowmaking system has been completed, featuring high-efficiency snow guns, advanced automation, and intelligent weather stations. This means more slopes open, earlier, and for longer. A long and reliable season, where weather will not be a limiting factor.

Magic for little ones: new children's areas

Sun Peaks also aims to be a family paradise. This year, Moose’s Cabin, the third of four themed areas designed specifically for children, is opening. Located on Tod Mountain, this immersive cabin includes animal sculptures, large-scale local art (by artist Zuzy Rocka) and activities that stimulate curiosity and imagination.

This joins Grouse’s Nest, a mini ski-cross track, and Bear’s Liar, an exploration route in the middle of the forest. The final piece of the puzzle, Fox’s Den, will arrive in the 2026/27 season. Sun Peaks not only teaches little ones to ski, but invites them to play on the mountain like never before.

Accessibility for all: inclusion in every corner

A modern resort is an inclusive resort. For this reason, this season a new accessibility ramp has been incorporated into the Sunburst Lodge, located in the middle of the mountain. This intervention ensures that all visitors, regardless of their mobility, can easily access the emblematic restaurant and its panoramic terrace. A gesture that redefines the experience for many.
