Survivors at the Summit: Ascending to Celebrate Life

On July 27th, the 29th edition of Survivors at the Summit will take place, a profoundly symbolic event where the mountains of Brighton Resort, Utah, will once again be adorned in yellow to pay tribute to all those who have faced cancer, as well as those who have accompanied them on their journey.

Since 1996, this emotional gathering has honored both cancer survivors and their caregivers, while raising funds for Survivor Wellness, a non-profit organization that offers emotional, physical, and spiritual support services—free of charge or at reduced rates—in a safe and supportive environment.

One of the most moving moments of the day is the Celebration of Life, when hundreds of participants ascend the mountain carrying yellow flags personalized with messages of love, hope, and encouragement. Upon reaching the main pavilion, the flags are hung as a symbol of collective strength and shared memory, accompanied by readings of soul-stirring messages.

This year, over 400 attendees are expected at an event that will include fine dining, a ride on the Majestic chairlift, hiking trails accessible for all levels, activities for all ages, a silent auction, and, of course, breathtaking views. Beyond the mountain experience, what truly stands out is the sense of community, gratitude, and celebration of life that permeates every step.

As Dana Levy, Executive Director of Survivor Wellness, states:
“This journey to the summit represents the path each cancer survivor walks. Survivors at the Summit honors that experience and invites us to recognize its impact.”

Additionally, those who wish to begin this journey before the big day can join the Why I Climb challenge, an initiative to share personal stories, mobilize friends and family, and raise funds in honor of those who are part of this brave and transformative ascent.
